If you thought last season’s events couldn’t be topped, think again! One local pub is launching a new pizza in honour of the Bristol Rovers’ boss who delivered a sensational promotion back to League One.
The Sportsman & Annexe, located just off Gloucester Road, is well-known for its pizzas and the addition of the ‘Joey Barton’ to its menu is sure to go down well with supporters looking for a meal with a Rovers twist.
With a team including a Beefy and a Belly in their line-up, it’s no surprise that the ‘Joey Barton’ pizza is loaded with spicy chicken, meatballs, pulled pork and pepperoni and BBQ sauce on a homemade base.
Even better is the news that The Sportsman & Annexe is giving a slice of its profits back to the club – for every Joey Barton pizza they sell, 50p will go to Rovers’ Community Crust… sorry, Trust.
Manager Ashley Bird said: “We hope that our new sports menu, with the ‘Joey Barton’ pizza, will help to create a great atmosphere for the community and give Rovers the perfect recipe for a successful season in League One.
“We hope that it will prove popular with home and away fans who are all welcome at The Sportsman & Annexe. We will be serving our Sports Menu, which will include the ‘Joey Barton’ pizza, on matchdays from 12pm.”
Bristol Rovers Community Trust CEO Adam Tutton said: “We are delighted that The Sportsman & Annexe has kindly offered to donate 50p from every Joey Barton Pizza sold towards the award-winning work of the Community Trust. This is yet another great example of the local community working together to support those most in need. We would also like to personally thank Joey for agreeing to donate funds from the pizza to the club’s official charity.”
The Sportsman & Annexe is part of an independent 14-strong pub estate called Wickwar Wessex Pub Company. For menus and more, visit their website at https://sportsmanbristol.com/
